Family Foray
Yesterday saw a me take a trip out with my family up Snake Pass, having short round walk, including a meal at the Snake Pass Inn, before going home.
We started off at the Hope Woodland Car Park, where we crossed over the road and went down the path leading to the bottom of the valley. Once at the bottom, we then followed the path following the river downstream. Conditions underfoot were a little muddy and boggy in places, but otherwise okay.
After walking so far along, we reached a split in the path, one which crossed the river led up an off shooting valley into the moors and the other staying on our side of the river. We chose to stay on the side of the river we were already on, and began to follow this path. After following the river for a little further, it turned away to move up the side of the valley towards the road.
Upon reaching the road, we turned right and walked alongside it for a short while before reaching the Inn on the opposite side of the road. It also gave us the brilliant view at the top of this post.
After finishing our meal, we walked back along the road past where we came up from the valley floor and crossed over the road going onto a track. Then track then went uphill for a while, in a direction away from where we wanted to be going, before levelling off and turning to face the direction of the car park. By this point it was more path than track, and was marked by some helpful posts. We followed it all the way back to the car.
Overall, this was a good little walk although my viewpoint may be biased as a result of a very nice (and large) meal halfway round. I can definitely recommend it.
